‘These three musicians, using violin, sax and piano, play so quietly as to draw their audience into a kind of deep listening trance.’ (The Wire)
Klinck Trio (BE) is the Belgian supergroup of contemporary (experimental) improvised music. Rooted in improvisation and driven by openness, Adia Vanheerentals (saxophone, vocals), Maya Dhondt (piano, vocals) and Elisabeth Klinck (violin, vocals) create music in which sound and silence are equally essential.
Their stunning debut My Hair is Everywhere, released on Ghent’s VIERNULVIER Records label, is an intimate exploration of vulnerability: a delicate conversation in which every note is played with intention and every pause carries meaning. According to The Wire: ‘The dreamlike electroacoustic compositions of Belgium’s Klinck Trio connect contemporary chamber music with improv and avant pop.’
Inspired by Meredith Monk, the trio unfolds soundscapes replete with lightness, melancholy and tenderness, interspersed with subtle details such as breathing and instrumental sounds. The recording’s proximity makes textures and nuances tangible, so that the listener becomes completely immersed. Above all, this album is an invitation to listen differently: three musical voices that find each other in fragility.
Elisabeth Klinck was also present at BRDCST in 2022, presented her latest album, Chronotopia, at AB in 2025, and plays a crucial role in Miet Warlop’s internationally acclaimed performance One Song, the final instalment of which will be presented at AB in June 2026.
