Italian violinist known for collaborations with prominent composers like Éliane Radigue and Pauline Oliveros

Italian violinist, composer and improviser Silvia Tarozzi (IT) is known for her in-depth research into the transmission of sound and oral music. She works closely with prominent composers like Éliane Radigue, Pauline Oliveros, Pascale Criton, Cassandra Miller and Philip Corner

Tarozzi is one of the most important performers of Radigue’s Occam Océan cycle and she has created several works within this project. As a composer, she released the stunning Mi specchio e rifletto in 2020, followed by Canti di guerra, di lavoro e d’amore (2022), created with cellist Deborah Walker. She has formed a duo with Walker for twenty years now, interweaving microtonality, voice techniques and Northern Italian song traditions. 

Since 2006, Tarozzi has also been a violinist with French ensemble Dedalus, which collaborates with prominent composers from the field of experimental music. She has also worked with dancers, theatre makers and video artists, and has composed for various interdisciplinary projects. In Bologna, she leads the experimental children’s choir Piccolo Coro Angelico, which focuses on creative vocal exploration.
