The Bug x Ghost Dubs presents Implosion

Ready for the clash of the dub titans? x “It feels like a soundclash in the underworld.” (Pitchfork)

In Boomkat’s 2025 charts, they asked Brussels-based Kevin Martin a.k.a. The Bug (VK/BE) for his favourite albums of 2025. Goodness by feeo and The Film by SUMAC & Moor Mother resided in his Top 10. Seeing as both are present at BRDCST, we figured The Bug could join the bill too, alongside his coups de cœur. Coincidence or not: The Bug vs Ghost Dubs (DE) made one of the best albums of the past year in the form of Implosion.
Pitchfork recently summed up the spirit of Martin’s music perfectly: “Across three decades, the physical force of his music has expanded and contracted, but two things remain constant: the pulse of dub and the rumble of the bass.” Martin said the following about his previous album, Machine (2024): “The goal was to make a new form of dub music that I wasn’t hearing. I wanted to make dub music that maybe some people definitely wouldn’t like.”
That may also be true of Implosion, the album he made with Ghost Dubs a.k.a. Stuttgart-based dubmeister Michael Fiedler, who surprised us in 2024 with his debut Damaged. What wasn’t a surprise: the album appeared on Pressure – Kevin Martin’s label – and the artwork was provided by The Pathological Puppy a.k.a. … Kevin Martin!
Echoes and Dust on Implosion“This is a brilliantly huge sounding album in all aspects of sonic power, and it is a brilliant meeting of minds and souls.” Pitchfork: “It feels like a soundclash in the underworld.” Ready for the clash of the dub titans?
