Stephen O’Malley presents ‘Ideologic Organ’
BRDCST Curator: Stephen O'Malley
AB and Stephen O’Malley (US/FR) shared an intense bond between 2005 and 2009. His drone band Sunn O))) performed here in 2005, 2006 (with special guest Julian Cope) and 2009. His offshoots also made appearances: KTL (the duo he formed with Peter Rehberg, RIP) in 2008 and Æthenor in 2009.
Stephen O’Malley presents Ideologic Organ
He established Ideologic Organ in 2011, together with Editions Mego label boss Peter Rehberg. The label focuses on avant-garde, drone and contemporary composition and “is known for its high-quality, boundary-pushing releases and captivating visual art with curation and art direction still led by O'Malley.”
The artists on his label are impressive, including Kali Malone (and her album The Sacrificial Code as holy grail), cello player Lucy Railton, guitarist Nina Garcia, French Golem Mechanique, extreme metal vocalist Attila Csihar and Lukas De Clerck (who was a guest at BRDCST last year).
To mark the fifteenth anniversary of Ideologic Organ, O’Malley is placing his label in the spotlight at VanhaerentsArtCollection, an impressive art gallery in an old industrial warehouse a stone’s throw away from AB. Large-scale prints of the Ideologic Organ artwork are also on view at the AB Vitrine (Steenstraat 23–27).
Please note: Stephen O’Malley serves as curator, but will not perform at BRDCST himself, as he is touring with Sunn O))) in the US.
