She has worked closely with artists such as the influential composer Éliane Radigue, who is also the subject of her book Éliane Radigue – Intermediary Spaces. Finally, she is a researcher at the philosophy faculty of the VUB, where she teaches and lectures on sound, music, gender and space.
At BRDCST, Eckhardt will perform her latest album, Blanca, recently released on the renowned label Another Timbre. The album consists of eight five-minute compositions, inspired by the daily walks Eckhardt took in 2022 during a residency in the little town of Blanca in south-eastern Spain.
She followed a daily regime of walking without any plan or destination, making field recordings and taking photographs. After returning, she then recorded a viola improvisation that reflected the energy of these random spots. Recording, image and improvisation thus became three ways of creating memory imprints. Blanca revolves around eight of these improvisations.
