2022: BRDCST bekroonde de onnavolgbare jaimie branch tot headliner naar aanleiding van haar indrukwekkende releases Fly or Die (2017) en Fly Or Die II: Bird Dogs Of Paradise (2019). En: she delivered! 

jaimie - ze stond erop dat haar naam steeds zonder hoofdletters werd geschreven - imponeerde en kreeg de hele zaal in volle extase. Een maand nadien speelde ze met Anteloper - haar duo met drummer Jason Nazary - in AB Club. Exact drie maanden en drie dagen later zou ze van ons heengaan. Het had in die mate een impact op ons dat we nog steeds haar close musical peers blijven volgen en koesteren.  

Enter Jason Nazary (VS) en cellist Lester St. Louis (VS), die tevens te horen was op Fly Or Die II en destijds ook present was tijdens BRDCST. Beiden zetelen ze in het Brooklynse WRENS, samen met Elias Stemeseder (synths) en frontman/trompettist/rapper Ryan Easter, wiens rapflow door Pitchfork werd omschreven als “a cross between Earl Sweatshirt and Lil. B”.  

Hun album Half of What You See gooide hogen ogen. Pitchfork: “The jazz-rap ensemble’s second album is dense, chaotic, and thrilling, with electroacoustic abstraction grounded by casual humor and intentional collaboration.” The Wire: “Their album moves freely from deconstructed rhythms and percolating funk to beatless atmospherics, as acoustic extended techniques meld seamlessly with woozy electronics.” BRDCST-tip!
