BRDCST label focus: AD 93 (Label of The Year 2025, Pitchfork)

Met Moin, Coby Sey, SKY H1, Holy Tongue, Valentina Magaletti en recent nog revelatie YHWH Nailgun, passeerden reeds flink wat acts van het Londense label AD 93 de revue tijdens BRDCST. In 2026 leggen we bewust de focus op het label met eregasten als james K, feeo, Lankum-offshoot One Leg One Eye en Olan Monk.

Toeval of niet: Pitchfork katapulteerde het label recent nog tot Label of The Year 2025 en bestempelde het tot “one of the most interesting, unpredictable, and ambitious record labels working right now”. Alsook: “Daring, heartfelt, and unpredictable, AD 93 has released some of the best music of the year. AD 93’s diverse roster is something more like an ethos: a shared spirit of adventurousness, disregard for convention, and raw emotion.”

feeo presents Goodness (AD 93) 

The Wire plaatste het debuut van feeo (VK) recent in hun top vijftien van beste albums van 2025 met deze gevatte quote: “London-Oxfordshire based singer-songwriter feeo’s debut embedded gorgeous vocal melodies and reflective monologues within lo-fi beats and electronics and improvisational flourishes.” Ook Pitchfork is fan, en doopte haar album Best New Music: “One of the most breathtakingly beautiful albums of the year.”

feeo is het alter ego van vocaliste/songwriter Theodora Laird. Ze werkte reeds samen met Loraine James en maakt deel uit van het duo Crosspiece met bassist Caius Williams, door The Wire omschreven als “an improvised dialogue between double bass and voice”.

Tot slot nog Pitchfork over haar debuut: “Goodness faintly recalls Grouper but the artfulness has more in common with Beth Orton and Beth Gibbons.” Mogen we tot slot ook nog Tirzah-fans mee over de streep trekken?
