The Swiss Kukuruz Quartet was formed in 2014 and musically operates at the intersection of classical music, jazz, and improvisation. A defining moment in their career was their performance in 2017 at the 14th edition of the major international art exhibition documenta. There, Kukuruz (roughly translated as “corn”) Quartet performed Julius Eastman’s compositions Evil N**r, Gay Guerrilla, Buddha, and Fugue No. 7 on four grand pianos—earning a standing ovation.
For the first time in history, Eastman’s compositions Evil N**r and Gay Guerrilla will be heard within the walls of AB.
