Shida Shahabi
Swedish-Iranian pianist approved by Pj Harvey
Shida Shahabi (curated by Colin Stetson)
Last summer, the Swedish-Iranian pianist Shida Shahabi received - just like Tirzah - a rather unique invitation from PJ Harvey to accompany her during her show in Gunnersbury Park. Her latest album Living Circle (via the neoclassical label 130701, which also houses BRDCST artists such as Ava Rasti and Keeley Forsyth) navigates between classical piano music, ambient and drones and will certainly appeal to fans of Max Richter and A Winged Victory for the Sullen. She has already opened for the latter at the prestigious Barbican. The first allowed her to perform at the Reflektor festival in the famous ElbPhilharmonie in the company of Kali Malone and Portico Quartet, among others. Last year, Shahabi impressed during BRDCST in the Rijke Klarenkerk.
